Allandale is another popular hideaway on the north side of central Austin with eclectic homes, mature trees and loads of shopping. The neighborhood is bound by Research Boulevard/183 to the north, MoPac to the west, Burnet Road to the east, and Northland Drive to the south which turns into Koenig Lane heading east. The homes were built in the 1950s and 1960s, but due to Allandale’s charm and location, new homes are peppered throughout as well.

If thrifting is your cup of tea, you will be within walking distance to many vintage stores and furniture re-sale shops. Conveniently lined up and down Burnet Road, the shops feature fun clothes and mid-century furnishings galore. Amy’s Ice Cream is a local Austin favorite serving marble slab ice cream with any topping your heart desires and has an outdoor play area for the kids.
