Buda is conveniently sandwiched between the hustle and bustle of Austin and the tranquil setting of Kyle. Like Kyle, Buda was established along the International-Great Northern Railroad to support the cotton industry. Buda is located along Interstate Highway 35 approximately 15 miles south of Austin and only a few miles north of Kyle in Hays county. While the population continues to grow, Buda has not experienced the population explosion happening in other parts of Hays county.

What to do in Buda

Buda is home to the “Famous Weiner Dog Races” which take place every April. It is not your traditional dog race; more on the informal side and fun for the whole family. Cabela’s is another fun outing in Buda. It is every hunting or outdoor enthusiasts’ dream with hunting and fishing equipment, clothes, wildlife exhibits and more. Don’t forget to check the heart of Buda with a stroll down the Historic Main Street District for antiques and other collectibles.

Buda’s Great Outdoors

Many people refer to Buda as the “Outdoor Capital of Texas”. The City Park is located on 7 acres in the center of downtown at 204 San Antonio Rd, Buda, TX. The residents host special events, live music or just have a relaxing day watching the kids play basketball or climb the rock wall at the playground. There are numerous golf courses in Buda as well as north and south of town in Austin, Kyle and San Marcos. There is also a sportsplex west of 1626.
