Small business Saturday is here!! We all like to shop locally and support those in our community. I am featuring 3 local artists in Austin that are completely worth supporting!! There are so many great small businesses, but it can be difficult determining where to go. I particularly love it when someone recommends a place because I am more likely to buy from them.
If you are looking for other small businesses that are not necessarily products based check out my Small Business Features that I wholeheartedly endorse and recommend here.
Eastwood Jewelry: Local jewelry artist Brian David Johnson started out as a custom furniture maker and designer, but later discovered his passion for making sustainable accessories and modern wood jewelry. The one-of-a-kind jewelry is made with cherry or walnut with resin which makes these lightweight and stunning. You will get so many compliments on these, I promise!
Mini Wallets – Anne Marie Beard: Anne Marie Beard creates eco-friendly accessories that are durable and fun, often using reclaimed materials and details. She creates textiles out of discarded materials and makes them beautiful and functional. 2% of all her sales go to support Austin area groups that support environmental conservation.
Nailivic Studios: This East Austin artist is inspired by art from around the world and creates “modern folk art” using a laser-cutter transferring his pen and ink creations to colorful wall art. His company is “rooted in the philosophy that everyone has the right and responsibility to change society and the world for the better.”
Shopping local is one of my most favorite things to do. I love keeping my money local and supporting the very talented people who live in this beautiful city. Let me know if you end up supporting one of these artists. I know they would be so grateful!
