Olympic Heights Schools

Children who live in Olympic Heights are part of the Austin Independent School Dristrict, AISD, which educates 86, 000 students as of 2011. AISD teaches 7 languages other than English, offers magnet programs and after school services.  Olympic Heights students attend Baranoff Elementary School, Bailey Middle School and Bowie or Akins High School.  Some of the private schools in the area are Bannockburn Elementary, St. Gabriel’s Catholic School and Primavera Montessori School.

Olympic Heights Surrounding Parks

Austin is proud to have parks and nature trails scattered throughout the city and Olympic Heights is within minutes from Dick Nichols Park, Mary Moore Searight Park and Slaughter Creek Metropolitan Park.  Dick Nichols is 152 acres of parkland with hike and bike trails, a swimming pool, tennis courts, volleyball courts and a multi-purpose field.  Mary Moore Searight Park sits on 344 acres with similar amenities including a 6 mile trail, but is mostly appreciated for the 18 basket Disc Golf course.  The largest, Slaughter Creek Metropolitan Park on 546 acres, also offers trails, volleyball courts and basketball courts; however, the biggest attraction is watching a youth soccer game at one of the 7 soccer fields.
